You may have noticed that the logo on YouTube’s homepage has changed in the last few days.
The logo shows a globe graphic with a countdown clock on the side.
The countdown is to a contest called ‘ Life in a Day ’ that will be held on July 24, 2010. YouTube users have 24 hours to shoot and submit a feature film.
The most compelling footage will be edited into an experimental documentary film produced by Ridley Scott and directed by Kevin Macdonald.
The film will premiere at the Sundance Film Festival in January 2011 and will be available on YouTube.
Footage that makes the cut will entitle the lucky user to a co-director credit.
